Safety & Health Officer (SHO)

Responsibilities:

1. Executing the development, generation & maintenance of the Safety and Health documentation located in Site Office.
2. Monitoring the implementation of QESH standard at site and advising on improvement actions.
3. Acting as secretary for Safety and Health committee meetings and preparing minutes of Safety and Health Committee Meetings and monthly Safety and Health reports to Headquarters.
4. Submitting notification of accident and incident reports within 24 hours and completing full investigation reports to Safety and Health Department Headquarters within TWO (2) weeks after the accident/incident for non-LTI, near misses, first aid cases, and property damage.
5. Notifying state JKKP (DOSH) in case of fatality and completing full reports within ONE (1) MONTH after the accident/incident to state JKKP (DOSH) and Safety and Health Department Headquarters.
6. Advising in developing and maintaining Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Determining Control.
7. Monitoring and advising on Safety and Health Objectives and Targets to the Safety and Health Manager.
8. Assisting in ensuring the implementation of QESH standards related to inspection and audit programs at Site Office.
9. Assisting the Safety and Health Manager in executing audits and inspections in compliance with the schedule.
10. Monitoring recommendations for improvement and prevention of recurrence.
11. Performing any other duties (related to OSH) that the Safety and Health Manager or management might assign from time to time.
12. Complying and adhering to all matters pertaining to Quality, Safety and Health, and Environment related to the job scope and workplace as required by the company.
13. Complying with regulation 18 (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i) of Occupational Safety and Health (Safety and Health Officer) Regulations 1997.

Authority:

1. Conducting internal Quality, Occupational Safety and Health Management System audits.
2. Ordering a work stoppage for substandard unsafe acts and unsafe conditions/practices at the work site.

Job Specification:

1. Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Safety or related field, must be registered with DOSH Headquarters Putrajaya as a competent SHO.
2. Minimum 4 years experience in the construction environment with at least 3 years in a similar field or position.
3. Knowledge of legal and other requirements, and good environmental, safety, and health practices.
4. Computer literate and familiar with MS Office Application Software.
5. Able to work independently and communicate effectively in BM and English.
6. Priority will be given to applicants who are available to start immediately.
