Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain compliance with all safety regulations.
  2. Monitoring and controlling safety and compliance in the organization as per the Safety and Health Act 1994 and organization's safety policy.
  3. Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of the workplace to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  4. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention.
  5. Advising the management on safety issues as well as developing health and safety policies and procedures.
  6. Carrying out safety inspections and internal audits and reporting to management with suggestions and measures for improvement.
  7. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  8. Lead safety committees and meetings to discuss safety concerns and initiatives.
  9. Ensure all staff comply with safety regulations, including compliance with environmental regulations.
  10. Provide and initiate SHE training to ensure all employees are fully aware and adequately trained according to legislative requirements.
  11. Submit annually the necessary documents to DOSH as required by the Act.
  12. Implement 5S to ensure safety in surrounding areas.
  13. Liaise with Bomba on fire prevention, evacuation, and conduct fire drill training.
  14. Liaise with vendors to conduct monthly checks for the Fire System.
  15. Responsible for attending calls to verify with SPKA (Sistem Pengawasan Kebakaran Automatik).
  16. Assist all visiting government officers and consult on safety, health, and environment-related matters.
  17. Perform any other relevant/ad-hoc tasks as assigned by superior/management.

Requirements:

  1. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
  2. Certified and registered as Safety and Health Officer with the Department of Occupational Safety & Health, Malaysia (DOSH).
  3. Competent Safety and Health Officer with a minimum of two to three years' working experience.
  4. In-depth knowledge of legislation and procedures.
  5. Experience in report writing and policies for health and safety.
  6. Ability to plan, implement, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures.
