Risk Manager, Sustainability

Join the dynamic team of Hong Leong Assurance Berhad as a Risk Manager, Sustainability. In this full-time position based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, you will play a crucial role in managing sustainability-related risks for the company, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practices.

What you'll be doing

1. Support Risk Management Department to: (a) carry out the annual CRST according to the requirements set out in the BNM CRST 2024, including communication of results (key findings and recommendations, if any) to the various stakeholders and follow through with implementations, where necessary; and (b) assess material climate-related risks in the ICAAP over relevant time horizons, thereafter develop appropriate risk metrics to manage climate-related risks, including risk limits and thresholds for management action.
2. Develop and manage appropriate systems and procedures to ensure accurate data is used and subsequently appropriate analyses produced. This includes adopting efficient and consistent models and processes and/or technologies where appropriate.
3. Ensure appropriate checks are performed within processes to minimize inaccuracies.
4. Comply with internal model governance and validation policies. This includes reviewing procedures to maintain model integrity and appropriate model documentation.
5. Highlight any potential concerns/risks and proactively share best risk management practices.
6. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Be the primary point of contact for relevant departments and/or business functions.
7. Maintain awareness of industry trends on the BNM CRMSA PD and BNM CRST 2024 in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the Company.

Other Tasks

1. Ensure compliance with the Company's and Regulator's policies and regulations.
2. Perform other duties as required by the Management.

What we're looking for

1. Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar risk management or sustainability-focused role, preferably in the banking or financial services industry.
2. Strong understanding of sustainability principles, frameworks, and regulations (e.g. ESG, TCFD, SASB).
3. Proficiency in risk analysis, risk modelling, and quantification techniques.
4. Experienced with Actuarial Modelling using Prophet Professional.
5. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
6. Ability to effectively communicate complex sustainability-related information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
7. Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
8. Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as finance, risk management, or sustainability.
9. Ideally, someone with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Actuarial positions is an advantage.
