Job description

The Restaurant Manager at our Malay-Indo restaurant Ibu Ruby's will oversee the day-to-day operations of the establishment, ensuring that guests receive exceptional service while maintaining a smooth and efficient work environment. This role requires a strong understanding of both the Malay and Indonesian cultures, with an emphasis on traditional cuisine and hospitality practices. The Restaurant Manager will lead the team, manage the restaurant's financial performance, maintain high food and service standards, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Supervise daily restaurant operations, ensuring the efficient running of all aspects of the restaurant, including the 2 floor dining area, and drinks section.
  • Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage front-of-house employees. Motivate and provide continuous feedback to enhance staff performance and morale.
  • Customer Service: Ensure all customers receive excellent service by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring timely service. Build and maintain relationships with regular patrons and ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Inventory and Ordering: Work along with the Head Chef to monitor inventory levels of food, beverages, and restaurant supplies, and place orders with suppliers as necessary. Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage the restaurant’s budget, oversee cash handling, monitor operating costs, and implement strategies to improve profitability. Analyze sales data and customer trends to adjust service offerings.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that food quality meets established standards and that the kitchen adheres to food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Marketing and Promotions: Liaise with the Marketing team to develop and implement marketing strategies to increase foot traffic and revenue, including seasonal promotions, events, or special dishes inspired by Malay-Indo cuisine.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure the restaurant complies with all health, safety, and licensing regulations, including cleanliness and sanitation protocols.
  • Cultural Integration: Incorporate the unique flavors, presentation, and cultural aspects of Malay and Indonesian cuisines into the restaurant experience, from food offerings to restaurant decor.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or in a similar leadership role, preferably in a restaurant specializing in Malay-Indo cuisine.
  • Very hands on with excellent customer interfacing skills.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Malay and Indonesian cultures, cuisine, and dining customs.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and profit analysis.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS systems and other management software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field is a plus.
