The Position
Execute the day-to-day activities according to the highest standards of financial control, compliance and best practice.
Ensure quality and accurate delivery of services within agreed key performance indicators and as defined in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and SOPs of the respective business sub-process.
Essential Responsibilities:
Key activities & Deliverables
- Co-ordinate and complete month end, quarter end and year end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate closure of accounts in compliance with work instructions and month end close checklist.
- Perform and analyse booking accounting transactions, ensuring working and calculations are completed timely and accurately.
- Clear open items in accounts.
- Ensure accruals are properly justified and correctly posted.
- Ensure all journals are performed accurately and timely.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation, highlighting and rectifying any anomalies encountered.
- Submit monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting packages accurately and within specified timescale.
Documentation & Controlling
- Ensure all work documentation and processes are updated and meet with Internal Control Financial Reporting (ICFR), group policies and guidelines, local statutory and legal requirements within agreed service timelines.
- Perform back up function and other duties, including job rotation to other functional teams as required.
- Participate in compliance audits and respond to audit queries.
Transformation/ Continuous Improvement Implementations
- Engage and support teams, initiate and complete the implementation of continuous improvement projects.
- Work collaboratively with customers and partners.
- Proactively identify, recommend and implement solutions in consultation with management for continuous improvement opportunities in operations.
- Assist in ensuring effective knowledge transfer for sustainable development knowledge and sharing of best practices within the team.
Who You Are:
- Degree or Diploma or equivalent experience in Finance & Accounting/Commerce.
- Minimum 5 years working experience in the related field, preferably in General Accounting and Management Accounting.
- SAP knowledge or other ERP accounting systems and MS Office tools.
- Proficiency in English and Japanese is required. Good communication skills are essential, as the role involves supporting counterparts in Japan.
Desirable qualifications
- External experience in a shared service or business process outsourcing engagement is preferable.
- Prior leadership or project management type supervisory role may be an advantage.
