Quality Engineer

Job Title: Quality Engineer

Education:

Bachelor’s Engineering Degree from an accredited university or college with a Major in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

1. 5 years of experience, comprising:
2. 3 years of experience with related Engineered systems for power, rotary, auxiliary equipment (inlet/exhaust/fluid system), pressure vessel, heat exchanger, gear box (reducer), and other related engineered assemblies.
3. A minimum of 2 additional years of experience in a sourcing or quality assurance/control/improvement role, plant maintenance, repair, or quality improvement roles.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain quality systems, rules, and processes to ensure fulfillment of internal and external requirements.
2. Ensure that projects and products are capable and will meet specified standards.
3. Understand quality concepts, methods, procedures, and approaches.
4. Technical and quality interface with stakeholders and suppliers.
5. Support product & process qualification, conduct surveillance audits (QMS/SRG/TRS/Process/Product), and take corrective and preventative actions with suppliers to avoid defects and promote continuous improvement.
6. Assist PQE/Quality leader in quality, maintenance, repair, and engineering organizations to improve quality of maintenance and repair processes.
7. Conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
8. Identify, document, and analyze non-conformance issues (NCRs) and lead root cause investigations.
9. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring defects.
10. Monitor repair processes to ensure adherence to established quality control plans and recommend process improvements.
11. Conduct regular audits of repair procedures, including welding, machining, coating, assembly, and relevant operations activity.
12. Prepare and maintain detailed quality documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and failure analysis reports.
13. Compile & monitor Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports on quality performance (e.g., defect rates, repair turnaround time).
14. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to address quality concerns.
15. Provide training and guidance to technicians and operators on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices.
16. Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing to assure delivery of refurbished gas turbine components that meet the Baker Hughes Repair Network requirements.
17. Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes and improve supplier quality.
18. Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and customer-specific requirements.
