Job Description

  1. Support and maintain the Laboratory Quality Management System, in compliance with MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and SGS NR Group Quality System.
  2. Support the laboratory management in the absence of the posted Laboratory Manager or Team Lead and ensure the daily delivery of contractual laboratory services.
  3. Provide advice and assist clients on technical inquiries and scope of testing.
  4. Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as well as NR Group Quality Systems in assigned laboratories.
  5. Conduct inter-departmental quality audits to ensure compliance of the laboratory to QA/QC procedures as per MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
  6. Perform method validations/verifications and ensure the implementation of correct laboratory testing with compliance to MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 & NR Group QA/QC requirements.
  7. Responsible for troubleshooting technical-related problems in the laboratory and coaching lab technicians, sample preparation, and junior staff.
  8. Ensure timeliness, precision, and accuracy of analytical results to meet turnaround time.
  9. Ensure that information from clients is kept strictly confidential and never revealed to third parties.
  10. Ensure all analytical equipment, apparatus, etc., are appropriately monitored, maintained, and calibrated as per required schedule.
  11. Investigate and identify the root cause of all non-conformities from internal/external/round robin and customer complaints, with appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  12. Train, supervise, and ensure technical competency of Chemists / Laboratory Junior Staff with assigned test methods and procedures.
  13. Ensure all standard methods and quality documents are up to date.
  14. Ensure all controlled quality procedures, test methods, and documents are kept confidentially and restricted within SGS premises.
  15. Ensure good housekeeping and good laboratory practice in the laboratory.
  16. Adhere to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy and requirements by upholding good safety behavior and exercising necessary standards and processes when carrying out responsibilities at all times.
  17. Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your reporting manager and/or Senior Management.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field from a recognized university.
  2. Experience in internal audit or relevant analytical laboratory testing activities.

Additional Information

  1. Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant analytical laboratory.
  2. Knowledge of MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
