Responsibilities

• Ensure all QA laboratory activities comply with the company’s HSEQ procedures and meet company strategies and objectives.
• Control the activities of the QA laboratory efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Develop effective laboratory management systems including workload prioritization, overtime allocation, good housekeeping, laboratory inventory control, analytical equipment maintenance, and minimizing laboratory waste generation and disposal.
• Set up and maintain high standards of QA laboratory quality systems to ensure raw materials and finished goods meet specifications, technical competence of QA laboratory staff, and accurate analytical results.

Finished Product and Raw Material

• Collaborate with other sections/departments on troubleshooting, customer complaints, and aged stock to ensure good product quality and prevent off-specification and aged stock occurrences.
• Conduct laboratory scale blending, issue work-off recommendations, and seek management and MD approval for write-offs as needed.
• Update and maintain Daily Quality Records and Raw Material Summary.
• Establish new specifications, new testing methods, set shelf life, and work with purchasing on evaluation of new products and raw materials.
• Collect molecular weight data of all new products and monitor polymer content and inhibitor content of all monomers in storage tanks.

Equipment, Inventory, and Expenses

• Maintain and carry out periodic calibration of lab equipment for four laboratories.
• Be fully responsible for inventory and purchasing of QA laboratory operation necessities.
• Ensure expenses and capital expenditures remain within budget.

ISO, HSEQ, and AIMS

• Maintain and update QA laboratory operation procedures according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Regularly perform Risk Assessment of QC operations and update CHRA list.
• Take reasonable care for health and safety, cooperate with superiors, and comply with health and safety instructions as stipulated under Section 24 OSHA 1994.

Assist and Support R&D, Technical Service, and Maintenance

• Assist technical service with testing normal properties of competitor samples.
• Assist R&D and technical service with molecular weight checks of lab cook samples and competitor samples.
• Assist R&D and technical service with calibration of common equipment.
• Assist maintenance with testing samples from wastewater treatment plants.

Required Profile

• Degree in Chemistry or other Science disciplines from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 3 years of working experience preferred.
• Technical experience in a chemical or manufacturing plant laboratory.
• Good knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Conversant in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Mature with good interpersonal skills and able to work independently.
• No color blindness issue.
