We are in search of a highly qualified and experienced Purchasing Manager / Assistant Manager to lead the procurement team while being hands-on to take on related responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be accountable for overseeing the purchasing process, cultivating strategic supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of materials. This role necessitates exceptional negotiation skills, analytical acumen, and the capacity to optimize procurement processes while upholding quality standards. Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead the purchasing team to ensure streamlined and effective procurement operations.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the business goals.
  • Identify, assess, and engage suppliers to negotiate favorable terms for cost-effective, high-quality materials with reliable delivery.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with dependable vendors and suppliers to enhance contract negotiation outcomes.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks to improve purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical procurement standards.
  • Collaborate with internal departments for procurement planning and forecast demand to meet organizational objectives.
  • Analyze purchasing data and generate reports that outline cost savings, supplier performance, market trends, and budget optimization in line with organizational goals.
  • Drive process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives within the procurement function.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in purchasing/procurement, with at least three (3) years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in local and global sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management capabilities.
  • Strong skills in negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated capability to analyze costs, identify trends, and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Proficiency in Syspro or ISO 9001 QMS system will be an added advantage.
  • Experience or/and exposure in Procurement within the manufacturing industry is essential.
  • Strong understanding of import laws and regulations, coupled with extensive experience in product importation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong team leadership with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
