Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery capabilities.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with suppliers to ensure satisfaction and timely delivery.
  • Contract Negotiation:
    • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, delivery, and payment terms.
    • Review and finalize contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
    • Resolve any contract disputes or issues that arise.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the company’s objectives.
  • Forecast procurement needs and plan for inventory to meet production or operational demands.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of purchasing strategies and make improvements.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure a continuous supply of necessary materials without overstocking.
    • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to manage stock levels and optimize the supply chain.
    • Ensure that materials are delivered on time and at the right quantity.
  • Budget Management and Cost Control:
    • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost-effective sourcing.
    • Track procurement costs and identify opportunities for cost savings or efficiencies.
    • Ensure the procurement process aligns with the company’s financial goals.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
    • Monitor supplier performance to ensure adherence to contracts and quality standards.
    • Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions or price fluctuations.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Regularly report on procurement activities, supplier performance, and budget status.
    • Analyze procurement data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Present reports to senior management and recommend actions for optimization.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including finance, operations, and legal, to align procurement activities with overall business goals.
  • Provide support and guidance to other departments regarding procurement processes and best practices.

Requirements for a Procurement Manager

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
    • Experience in negotiating contracts, managing suppliers, and managing budgets.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficient in procurement software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
    • Expertise in inventory management, cost control, and budgeting.
    • Knowledge of supply chain dynamics and market trends.
    • Familiarity with legal, regulatory, and compliance standards in procurement.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
    • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills.
