Specific Duties And Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
Leading the delivery of the Chamber Public Affairs/ Government relations strategy
Leading industry advocacy for members and aiming to strengthen the Chamber’s ability to be the voice of British businesses through high-level discussions and dialogues with key stakeholders in response to policy challenges impacting members as well as opportunities available to members and British businesses
Managing and working with Board of Directors, member committees, networks, and advisory group, as well as having engagements with members to support the advocacy needs of the members
Leading in managing stakeholder relationships including identifying, building and maintaining a network of key relevant contacts and stakeholders in Malaysia & the UK (ministries, government agencies, trade associations and Chamber network)
Establishing and maintaining two-way communication with relevant official bodies and stakeholders, and assisting in developing new contacts
Monitoring proceedings and development relating to policy, investment and trade activities, keeping the CEO and related teams informed of relevant policy developments as well as providing insight, input on developments and highlight opportunities for Chamber to take lead, provide input and organise initiatives
Research and drafting of written collaterals for various stakeholders including Government departments and media as and when necessary
Support the Chamber’s initiatives to craft programme content, discussion themes, identify subject matter experts, managing invitations for high level stakeholders, etc.
Flexible in undertaking other assignments as seen necessary by the CEO
Other Requirements
Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Business, Economics, or any relevant fields
Working experience in similar role for minimum of 5 years
Demonstrable knowledge of and enthusiasm for Malaysian & UK business and related policy matters
Experience of working with or writing economic and policy related content
Previous experience working in PR, Public Affairs or a related corporate environment will be an added advantage
Good knowledge of Malaysian market necessary – both government and industries specifics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; English & Bahasa Malaysia are essential
Good time management and organizational skills, committed to work under pressure
Self-motivated with the ability to work well under pressure, and produce high quality and accurate work within tight deadlines
Ability to quickly grasp technical matters, and have the ability to communicate them to non-technical people
Flexible and ‘can do’ approach with a willingness to help and support the wider team
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Professional attitude towards workplace and colleagues
