Program Manager, Landscapes Asia

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

We are excited to be searching for a proactive and pragmatic Program Manager with an interest to join our team, and we hope it’s you!

Your role.

As Program Manager you are responsible for leading and overseeing the development, implementation, and management of various programs within Landscapes Asia. This role involves coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring program objectives are met, and driving the overall strategic goals of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Translate strategic goals into operational plans and take full responsibility for program implementation, deliverables, and reporting on outcomes on time, within budget and within scope.
  2. Manage a yearly workplan and budget, identify and contract implementing partners.
  3. Create awareness and drive the adoption of more sustainable practices in commodity production, agribusiness and natural resources protection.
  4. Build partnerships necessary to secure cooperation and implementation programs through convening and facilitating stakeholder collaboration.
  5. Monitor and evaluate project activities and finance in conjunction with the implementing partners and private sector players.
  6. Serve as technical lead in proposal development, concept notes, investment committee notes, program summaries and reporting which will include delivering public presentations about landscape programs.
  7. Keep abreast of current regional and/or local fundraising trends to identify opportunities at an early stage, with the aim of securing funding for the programs. Unlocking and securing private sector investment in sustainable production of commodities.
  8. Promote a knowledge sharing and learning culture among team members and program partners.

You excel at navigating complex stakeholder environments, ensuring effective coordination and alignment among diverse groups. You possess the ability to address capacity limitations within stakeholder groups as you leverage your expertise to enhance their capabilities and drive successful, sustainable outcomes.

By embodying these competencies, you will thrive in challenging environments, contributing significantly to the success of your team and organisation through practical, results-driven strategies and expert guidance.

What you bring:

  1. 5-7 years of relevant working experience in international organizations/settings, preferable in program development and implementation around sustainable agriculture management and/or in natural resources management.
  2. Advanced degree/relevant experience in business, agriculture, environment, natural resource management or related field preferable.
  3. Extensive knowledge of sustainability issues in the landscape (knowledge in commodities sector desirable), and sustainability development in respect of forest conservation and smallholder inclusion. Knowledge of social issues and human rights (labour rights, child protection, gender) preferable.
  4. Proven track record and high proficiency in project management across various stages of project development and implementation (initiating, planning, execution, monitoring and completion).
  5. Proven ability for networking with major players in government, private sector and other stakeholders at local levels across the development sector.
  6. Excellent convening, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  7. Ability and willingness to travel to remote areas in Sabah as required.
  8. Candidate must have the permission to work in Sabah, Malaysia.
