Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Manufacturing/Production Operators of manufacturing equipment (about 30 operators) to produce our signature product. This individual will be responsible for various production activities such as training new workers and verifying the operator’s performance to maintain high productivity in high quality standards. The production involves heat staking, laser welding, mechanical swaging, printed circuit board (PCB) handling, etc. In addition to production operation, this position also needs to lead the production operators to support the production floor preventative maintenance activity such as machine cleaning and cleanroom cleaning. Most importantly, the successful candidate will be accountable for the performance of their section and team members. This position requires strong communication skills with the production operators and engineering technicians for arrangement of the daily production activity and preventive activities.
Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor a team of operators and material handlers focusing on performance, behaviors, product quality, and operational efficiency. Must be available for ad-hoc employee relations issues on a 24/7 basis, as needed.
Lead the production operator to support cleaning activities in preventive maintenance days.
Record and report status of operational goals using operational scorecards for the given section.
Provide timely performance feedback to personnel and responsible for delivering annual performance appraisals.
Ensure the use of consistent processes and procedures to support efficient operations and enhance product quality.
Ensure timely training and onboarding of new employees.
Train and mentor fellow operators on the manufacturing processes, equipment, and general mechanical skills.
Utilize human machine interfaces (HMIs) to identify and correct shifts in process control.
Ensure adequate supply of raw materials and process aids to operate efficiently.
Work with technicians to troubleshoot and identify potential solutions for mechanical errors, safety issues or general operating inefficiencies within the production processes.
Able to use computer systems to support material inventory and quality management processes.
Safely follow standard operating procedures including but not limited to material handling, record keeping, packaging, and shipment preparation. Must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Excellent attention to detail, good organization, and capable of working independently with minimal instruction from the production supervisor.
Able to work in small groups and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, identify and implement collective corrective actions.
Maintain a clean work environment suitable for medical device manufacturing and cleanroom production.
Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Minimum Diploma Holder in any related field of study.
2-5 years of experience in manufacturing production.
Must be proficient in the English language to be able to read documentation and communicate.
Multi-language fluency (English, Malay minimum).
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Previous experience running, debugging, and/or maintaining highly automated discrete component assembly equipment is preferred.
Previous experience with technologies such as laser welding, heat staking, ultrasonic welding, and ESD-sensitive devices preferred but not required.
Experience in a start-up production environment is a plus.
Experience working with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Familiarity with manufacturing instrumentation such as optical gauging, video microscopes, micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, dial indicators, and gauge blocks.
Physical Requirements (if applicable):
Required to stand for at least 80% of working time per shift, with walking at least 50% of working time per shift.
