Manage the product safety related local regulations and implement the requirements in Dow with considering Dow’s policies.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Determine JP Chemical Substance inventory status with CSCL (Chemical Substance Control Law) and ISHL (Industrial Safety and Health Law).
  • Responsible for authoring part of SDS (Safety Data Sheet) especially Section 3 and 15.
  • Responsible for the product safety related local regulations with the fundamental steps: 1) Monitoring, 2) Scanning, 3) Interpreting, 4) Doing RIA (Regulatory Impact Analysis) and 5) Implementing the requirements in Dow.
  • Assist business specific EH&S customer inquiries which are related to JP Product Safety regulations.
  • Supports regulatory compliance with the business Product Stewardship Program.
  • Gains full knowledge of product safety practices within the business and uses this expertise to develop EH&S solutions.
  • Supports business sustainability goals.
  • Identifies events that could qualify for Product Stewardship Metric reporting.

Educational Background

  • Majored in chemistry or related field at the bachelor level or higher.

Business Background

  • 1-5 years experience in EHS Regulatory affairs (not mandatory).

Language Requirements

  • Advanced and very fluent in Japanese.
  • Intermediate to Business level in English.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • SAP EHS Module.

Additional Information

This position does not offer relocation assistance. A minimum requirement for this Japan based position is the ability to work legally in Japan. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of Japan permanent residency process.
