Product Engineer

Position summary:

Responsible for designing and developing a product/product family, maintaining product line-up, processes and specifications to include modifications for new customer applications. Besides, ensures production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel. Tests finished product for quality purposes and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary.

General purpose:

• You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company, as well as communicate and work directly with customers. You will work with an engineering counterpart to define product & process improvement, continuously promoting quality and cost while meeting customer requirements. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

Position responsibilities:

• Review product drawings and product tolerancing to ensure product performance requirements are met.
• Develop innovative product solutions.
• Prepare samples for study.
• Perform shrinkage, strength, and various lab testing.
• Collect, record, and transcribe data.
• Develop and review product performance specifications.
• Perform new color and raw material testing.
• Provide suggestions during incident investigations.
• Advise on corrective actions.
• Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective and working production process, to ensure products meet cost and quality goals.
• Able to work directly with supporting suppliers.
• Ensure projects are completed on time.
• Ensure financial budgets are followed.

Essential skills and experience:

• 5 ~ 8 years of product engineering experience. Specific in connector or similar industry preferred.
• Knowledgeable in interconnect technology.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related work experience is a strong plus.
• Ability to work independently and meet daily project deliverables.
• Own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.
• Excellent written, oral, communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solidworks or Creo preferred).
• Proficiency with MS Office (Powerpoint/Excel/Word/Outlook).
• Proficiency in analyzing mechanical drawings.
• Well understanding of GD&T, tooling and machining technique, as well as tolerance analysis.
• Ability to travel.
