At Palsgaard, we specialise in plant-based food emulsifiers, a field we've led for over 100 years. Our small yet crucial role in delivering delicious foods extends to non-food markets such as polymers and personal care.
A Century of Expertise
Since our founder Einar Viggo Schou invented the plant-based emulsifier in 1917, we've driven innovation through our seven global application centres. Our food technology experts are dedicated to using our understanding of emulsifiers to drive constant innovation and empower the international food industry to explore new trends.
Nexus, our R&D sister company, advances emulsifier technology with significant scientific freedom, ensuring innovative solutions for Palsgaard's diverse applications.
Impactful Emulsifiers
Emulsifiers blend incompatible ingredients like water, oil, and air, significantly enhancing product quality. They enable stable emulsions, prevent oil separation, and control aeration and viscosity in bakery, confectionery, dairy, ice cream, margarine, and plant-based foods. Combined with stabilisers, they improve texture, mouthfeel, and shelf-life while supporting healthier food options.
Committed to Responsibility
Since 1908, we've fostered a culture of responsibility, loyalty, and respect, celebrating our colleagues, families, and communities. Our ambition drives responsible sourcing, reduced energy consumption, and CO2 emissions. We address societal challenges such as food waste and safety and offer RSPO SG-certified emulsifiers.
Beyond Food
Our emulsifiers also serve personal care and polymer markets, providing safe, sustainable alternatives to conventional additives. They enhance food packaging and help reduce food waste.
Owned by the Schou Foundation, we have nearly 700 colleagues in 17 countries and six factories on four continents.

Located in Johor Bahru at the southern tip of Malaysia, Palsgaard Malaysia is a key player in our regional operations, driving excellence and supporting smaller production sites across Southeast Asia.
Our site is currently undergoing significant growth, with plans to double production capacity in the coming years through a major investment in a state-of-the-art factory and warehouse. This expansion will also bring new opportunities as our team of 80 skilled and motivated colleagues grows to support the increased production.
Operating 24/7, the site produces high-quality emulsifiers and is home to dedicated professionals in production, QA/QC, EHS, supply chain, customer support, shipping, administration, and finance.
Job Responsibilities:
Palsgaard is experiencing increased demand for its products in Asia. To meet this growing demand, we are preparing a significant expansion of capacity at our existing production site in Malaysia. This expansion includes the construction of a new reaction/distillation plants and a cold spray tower. To support this project, we are seeking a skilled process engineer to join the project team and play a key role in the design, installation, test, and ramp up phases.
The initial assignment will primarily be at our production site in Denmark. Here, you will undergo a thorough training program, where you will follow the implementation process of our newly constructed production facility, which closely resemble the setup planned for Malaysia. Moreover, you will participate in the Malaysia project as support to our experienced engineers.
Regarding the timeline, we expect the training phase in Denmark to last 6–12 months, whereafter you will move to Malaysia to dedicate your time on the expansions.
The role in Malaysia is not time-limited, and we hope the candidate will continue their career at our Malaysian site beyond the project’s completion. In this position, you will act as a key process expert, driving process improvements, optimizations, and smaller projects in close collaboration with dedicated colleagues at our production site in Denmark and within a global process expert group. Palsgaard will support you throughout your assignment with housing, insurance, and other practical arrangements.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Candidate Profile:
You have a background in chemistry, such as a Master's in Chemistry, or a chemical engineer, preferably with a focus on organic chemistry. Applicants with other natural science education with applicable experience will also be considered. We prefer that you have at least 10-15 years of experience in process installations, optimizations, and problem-solving in a chemical production environment /chemical processes on an industrial scale. If you have experience with distillation processes and/or spray tower operations we consider it a significant advantage.
The position involves a lot of project management and process improvement, where you keep track of progress and manage a variety of stakeholders and contribute with your chemical engineering expertise. In your daily work, you will have a broad interface, so it's important that you enjoy working cross-organizationally and in the field between production, maintenance, the quality and safety organization, product management, automation, and planning. Last but not least, you are good at building transparent and trustworthy relationships and know how to act and adapt to different cultures.
It is crucial that you have a good technical understanding of IT systems such as ERP/MES/SCADA. At the same time, you are accustomed to working in Excel or similar software, where data processing and statistical analysis are involved. You approach things analytically and structurally while challenging and seeking new methods and solutions to current processes and habits. Since this position will be stationed both in Denmark and Malaysia, it is required that you master English both written and spoken.
