The Role: Price Reporter, APAC biofuels

The Location: Penang, Malaysia

The Team: This is an outstanding opportunity to join the world’s leading price reporting organization as it strengthens and grows its presence across biofuel markets. Customers in over 150 countries look to our expertise in pricing, analytics, and news to deliver greater transparency and efficiency to markets. The APAC Biofuels and feedstock pricing group is a dynamic team, responsible for key pricing benchmarks across the region.

The Impact: We are seeking a price specialist who can help drive our biofuel assessments and market coverage across the Asia-Pacific region. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to S&P Global Commodity Insights Biofuel and Feedstock pricing team through leading coverage of a developing market and growing industry.

  • The successful candidate would contribute to a fast-paced and dynamic team based in Malaysia, Singapore and India that works across the biofuels and feedstocks markets.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and executing new price assessment opportunities across the biofuel markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Market coverage on biofuels, reporting on daily physical trade activity including bids, offers and other relevant information.
  • Building and managing our database of contacts, seeking potential new sources to contribute to our assessment process and developing close business relationships with market participants.
  • Identifying opportunities to refine methodology and help launch new price assessments.
  • Writing daily and weekly commentaries and daily assessment rationale explaining the trends driving prices.
  • Providing support on other biofuels and feedstocks markets as may be required.
  • Creating news stories and multi-media coverage.
  • Representing S&P Global Commodity Insights at industry events as well as in face-to-face meetings with market participants to drive market adoption.
  • Working closely with relevant units across the organization such as commercial, analytics and news.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in biofuels and feedstocks markets or comparable agriculture markets, with accompanying awareness of exchange traded derivatives a benefit.
  • Strong numeracy skills and the ability to apply basic math functions in Excel.
  • Strong communication skills that demonstrate good listening, clear writing style, and strong verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Excellent English writing skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-starter mindset with effective problem-solving skills.
  • An ability to multitask and prioritize under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of economics and commodities markets fundamentals.
  • Existing network of contacts in the industry preferred.
  • Additional language skills such as Mandarin would be an advantage.
  • Degree in Agronomics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business, International Relations or similar.
  • Experience in price reporting or market reporting is a benefit.
