We are looking for a Data Platform Specialist to stabilize and innovate the platform and services that will improve our customers and business stakeholders' experience, as well as scale our systems as our customer base continues to grow.
As a Data Platform Specialist in a large organization, you will own the technical aspects of your platform and work closely with your application, architecture, and delivery teams to ensure the needs of our business problems are clearly understood and effectively addressed.
Key Responsibilities
Part of the platform services squads for the Infrastructure & Database Administrators.
Innovating, modernizing & proactive monitoring of IT Core infrastructure performance, maintenance, support, and infrastructure capacity planning.
Take end-to-end ownership in the management of multiple big data and database platform technologies, orchestrations tooling, and runtimes.
Train, guide, and grow other team members on a continuous basis to have a sustainable resource plan.
Lead data-driven decision-making process, define KPI and metrics to measure Big Data Storage Platform performance, team performance, and evolve metrics on an ongoing basis.
Work on Roadmap & Strategy for Data Platform with focus on Regional and non-Regional Platforms with technological focus on Teradata (with Vantage), Oracle, Big Data Platforms (Open Source, Commodity, and BDA), and object storage (and other future roadmaps).
Ensure Platform Security with Data at Rest and in Motion, maintaining UAM and appropriate controls on PII.
Ensure execution of technology/product roadmap with top quality and clear SLA.
Ensure IT Core Infrastructure services are aligned with evolving needs and capabilities, capacity, and are future fit (Cloud/on-premises technologies best suited for the bank).
Collaborate with key stakeholders on Platform strategy with the bank's internal technology teams and manage the vendors for platform upgrades and maintenance.
Ensure effective platform maintenance, including performance tuning and storage optimization opportunities.
Ensure effective software configuration management practices so the roadmap for DevOps can be adopted.
Inventory management for all environments across all platforms to ensure the effective utilization of the platform and its resources.
Requirements and Skills
Knowledge of IT Service Management frameworks and the management of IT Services.
Knowledge/Understanding of good information security practice from a technical and management perspective.
Demonstrable knowledge of ITIL.
10+ years experience as a Manager of Infrastructure Operation team.
8+ years of Infrastructure Operations experience in Teradata, Hadoop, and other Big Data technologies, Data Centre Management, Cloud Technologies and Management, PySpark/Spark, Kubernetes, and S3.
Proven track record of driving and delivering consistent and constant service improvements.
Vendor and Supplier Management.

An understanding of an outsourced delivery environment/model.
