Job description

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science/Forestry/Plantation Management, or related field.
  • Advanced qualifications in agriculture or estate management are an advantage.
  • At least 10 to 15 years of hands-on experience in managerial role within the oil palm plantation industry or field operational management, or similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, capable of leading large, diverse workforce.
  • Excellent strategic planning and organizational abilities, with experience in budgeting and resource allocation.
  • In-depth knowledge of oil palm agronomy, estate operations, and best agricultural practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions to improve estate performance.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, stakeholders, and external parties.
  • Strong oral and written in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin would be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to the challenges of a remote working environment.
  • Willingness to be stationed in remote locations and adapt to estate life.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of daily plantation operations, including land preparation, planting, harvesting, maintenance, transportation, and infrastructure development.
  • Ensure the implementation of best practices in crop management, pest control, fertilization, and irrigation to optimize yield and maintain the health of the plantation.
  • Develop and implement long-term and short-term strategic plans for the plantation, including productivity targets, cost control, and resource management.
  • Ensure all plantation activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit regular performance reports, including yield, labor management, financials, and other key performance indicators, to the top management.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the plantation and the head office, ensuring effective communication and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with sustainability standards, including RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) or other relevant certifications.
  • Lead the response to any operational emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to plantation activities.
