We seek to appoint a highly capable and enthusiastic Physics Teacher. The job commencement date is in August 2025.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the role of Physics Teacher for Secondary school is to maximize student learning and development through careful planning, preparation, and teaching of the curriculum to meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes.

JOB ROLE

Teaching and Assessment

• In-depth understanding of subject area content, skills, and understanding as prescribed in the English National Curriculum, IGCSE, and A Level syllabuses.
• Proactive and reflective approach to lesson planning to maximize learning opportunities through appropriate differentiation.
• Effectively using Assessment for Learning and other High Impact Teaching Strategies to maximize learning.
• Select relevant resources and digital tools to support and enhance learning.
• Develop appropriate assessment tasks, providing timely and effective feedback that enhances student learning.
• Promote a growth mindset in the classroom.
• Take responsibility for a class, supporting the holistic development of all students.
• Use flexible groupings and structured inquiry to deliver high-quality lessons.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in a timely, professional manner.

Wider professional roles

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the teaching of their subject(s) and effective research-based pedagogies.
• Use a range of appropriate strategies for classroom management.
• Maintain a well-organized and stimulating learning environment.
• Take responsibility for own professional development.
• Contribute to the policies and aspirations of the school.
• Ensure efficient administration of classroom procedures.
• Collaborate with members of the school community to support students’ learning.

Additional responsibilities may include

• Managing a homeroom class or assisting in daily school management.
• Assisting Heads of Year, Heads of Department, and other staff with specific functions.
• Managing a specialist function such as sport, careers, or student welfare.
• Supervising student activities including support and welfare programmes.
• Developing a school transition programme.
• Supporting colleagues in planning and reviewing teaching programmes.
• Contributing to the development of curriculum policies and programmes.
• Contributing to the school-wide professional development programme.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree majoring in Education or related field.
• At least 3 years teaching experience, including teaching Key Stage 4 IGCSE Cambridge Physics.
• Ability to prepare schemes of work and lesson plans.
• Ability to conduct classes independently and interact with students.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills.
• Creative and open to new ideas in teaching and education.
• Good planning, organizing, coordinating, presentation, and time management skills.
