Works under the supervision of Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacist to ensure the safe and efficient distribution of medications and the provision of pharmaceutical services to patients.
Responsible for performing various tasks within the Pharmacy Services such as preparation of medications, repacking, dispensing, and counselling.
Responsibilities:
Medication Management:
- To give prompt, efficient, ethical, and professional services to internal/external customers.
- To provide professional advice to the prescribers, staff nurses, and others regarding medications such as chemical name, indication, dosage, side effects, special precautions, contraindications, medication interactions, storage, etc.
- To review incoming prescriptions/medication charts for any medication interactions or duplication of medications.
- To prepare labels according to the prescription/medication chart.
- To prepare the medications according to the prescription/medication chart.
- To key in the charges of the medications correctly into the system.
- To counter-check the prepared medications.
- To dispense/supply the medications to the patient/wards together with necessary instructions.
- To conduct counselling to patients accordingly.
- Participate in the delivery of oncology pharmaceutical services, including the preparation of cytotoxic drugs for reconstitution.
- Ensure the selection, preparation, and dispensing of medications, including chemotherapy agents, biologics, and supportive care drugs.
- Review, interpret, and verify oncology prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and adherence to treatment plans.
Regulatory Compliance & Record-Keeping:
- To ensure all policies and procedures of the Pharmacy Department are adhered to.
- To ensure all policies and procedures of the Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) 1944 are adhered to.
- To comply with any instruction or measure on occupational safety and health.
- Accurately document medication-related activities, including prescription processing, medication dispensing, and inventory management.
- To prepare statistical reports as required, in a timely manner.
- To assist in job-related assignments.
- To participate, monitor, assess, and review departmental KPI or quality indicators.
- To assist the pharmacist in collecting data for implementing all upgrading exercises required by management.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor expiration dates and maintain proper documentation.
- Generate stock lists and labels by using the system.
- To ensure correct disposal of all returned medication, complying with environmental health regulations.
- To perform proper documentation and filing for compliance with statutory requirements.
- To ensure the availability of formulary drugs at all service areas.
- To participate, monitor, assess, and review departmental KPI or quality indicators.
- To undertake any other duties as assigned by superior.
Requirements:
- Minimum Diploma in Pharmacy from recognized institutions; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Good communication skills and able to explain clearly to patients.
- Able to converse in English.
- Good interpersonal skills, customer-oriented, dynamic, and organized.
- To establish and maintain regular communication and good relationships with all medical staff, departmental heads, and other healthcare team members.
- Willing to work different shifts.
- Willing to work at Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya (Hospital Picaso).
