Pharmacy Assistant

JOB SUMMARY :

To assist the Pharmacist in the control, distribution and dispensing of drugs.The job holder will also be responsible in other related pharmaceutical and administrative duties as assigned from time to time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. To interpret, verify, prepare and dispense prescription orders with appropriate labeling.
2. To prepare medications including compounding extemporaneous preparations and dilution of injections when assigned.
3. To educate patients on dosage instructions, storage, precautions, compliance and side effects of medications during dispensing.
4. To prepare and label stock requisition for pharmaceutical supplies to nursing units and other departments.
5. To maintain appropriate records related to Pharmacy for hospital use and legislative purposes.
6. To post pharmaceutical charges in Hospital Information System accurately.
7. To perform other data entry related to Pharmacy.
8. To perform inventory requisition at assigned Pharmacy units including inventory control, expiry date checking and participate in the stock take exercise.
9. To maintain the storage condition of pharmaceutical stocks as required.
10. To initiate and maintain files required for departmental records.
11. To disseminate appropriate and current drug information to doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
12. To assist in the training and orientation of new pharmacy assistant.
13. To actively participate in continuing educational (CE) activities including attendance at CE programs and achievement of required CE points.
14. To maintain Pharmacy in a clean and orderly manner.
15. You are responsible to be engaged in the department, Hospital and IHH quality indicator related tasks or activities.
16. To conform to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) established by the Hospital that are related to the job scope.
17. To perform any additional duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Manager, Assistant Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacist or immediate superior.
