Job description

Summary

The Operations Quality Specialist is responsible for overseeing the three key phases of Quality Management—Quality Planning/Prevention, Corrective Action, and Continuous Improvement. This role leads process and procedure definition, ensuring a consistent flow of high-quality products to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the team in managing quality excursions independently, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions.
  2. Oversee product and material quality from NPI to mass production.
  3. Develop and implement quality control plans for materials, processes, and products.
  4. Monitor, analyze, and report quality KPIs for both internal (factory) and external (customer) metrics.
  5. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality performance for customers, Celestica, and suppliers.
  6. Develop and maintain internal quality systems, procedures, work instructions, and workmanship standards.
  7. Lead and follow up on process, product, system, and supplier audits, including:

-Industry Standards Compliance (e.g., ISO)

-Regulatory and Safety Audits

-Compliance Audit

  1. Ensure the timely and accurate implementation of Engineering Changes (EC) and Supplier Process Change Notifications (SPCN), both externally and internally.
  2. Coach and mentor junior quality staff to enhance their expertise in quality management.
  3. Execute assigned tasks from leadership and contribute to quality strategy deployment.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  1. Strong understanding of quality tools, ISO and IPC standards, and quality management processes.
  2. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools for quality metrics.
  3. In-depth knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
  4. Awareness of business operations and their impact on customer satisfaction, product quality, on-time delivery, and overall profitability.
  5. Expertise in quality methodologies such as FMEA, PMP, SPC, and 8D problem-solving.
  6. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen principles.
  7. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience & Education

Experience: 6 to 8 years in a similar role or industry.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by location.
