Operations Manager (Container)

Company Background

We are representing our client, an established shipping company in Klang that provides logistics services in Shipping and Container.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Reports to Senior Manager (based in SG)
2. Responsible for overseeing the operations of container shipping services within Malaysia.
3. Lead a team, manage budgets, and ensure high customer service standards.
4. Operational Management
   • Oversee daily container shipping operations and shipping agency.
   • Guide the team to solve all shipping-related issues.
   • Work closely with Head Office to serve existing and new customers.
5. Customer Relationship Management
   • Handle enquiries, complaints, and disputes from customers or shipping lines and shipment-related internal communication.
   • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective service delivery.
6. Team Leadership
   • Lead and manage the export shipping team by planning and implementing strategies and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in both service and transit time performance.
   • Provide training, support, and performance evaluations for team members.
   • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
7. Logistics Coordination
   • Coordinate with liners to ensure seamless cargo movement.
   • Manage container inventory and tracking systems.
   • Optimize logistics processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Min 3-5 years of experience in container shipping, logistics, or maritime operations, with specific and significant experience in the Malaysian market, which is a crucial advantage for this role.
3. Strong knowledge of Malaysian shipping regulations, container handling, and port operations.
4. Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues related to shipments.
5. Experience in managing large-scale container shipping operations within Malaysia.
6. Knowledge of Malaysian maritime law and international trade regulations.

Job Details:

1. Permanent employment.
2. Working days / hours: Mon - Fri: 9am - 6pm.
