NPI Engineer

Role Overview:

The NPI Engineer plays a crucial role in introducing new products into manufacturing by bridging the gap between product development and production readiness. This position ensures smooth transfer of designs from R&D to production, driving manufacturability, process optimization, and timely project delivery within the automation machinery environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the key liaison between R&D, production, and quality departments to ensure the successful transition of new products from design to manufacturing.
• Participate in the early stages of product development to provide design-for-manufacturability input and assess process feasibility.
• Develop and implement scalable manufacturing processes for new products, including work instructions, process flow, PFMEA, and control plans.
• Lead pilot builds and validation activities, ensuring that all engineering and manufacturing requirements are met prior to mass production release.
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action planning for any technical issues encountered during the NPI process.
• Drive continuous improvements in process design, equipment selection, and production methodologies to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to identify and qualify components, tooling, and equipment needed for new product builds.
• Maintain detailed documentation for all phases of the NPI process and support audits and compliance activities as needed.
• Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables to ensure adherence to schedule and customer requirements.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to production teams to ensure smooth ramp-up and product stability.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in NPI or Manufacturing Engineering roles within the automation machinery, precision equipment, or related industrial sectors.
• Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, from design to mass production, including DFM, DFMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with assembly processes, jigs and fixtures design, and automation systems.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills to interface across departments and external vendors.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with high attention to detail and process discipline.
