Network/IT and Security Engineer (Data Center)

The Network/IT and Security Engineer reports to the Project Manager/Operations Manager. This position is responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing the infrastructure, security, and operations of the data center. Responsibilities include network configuration, system administration, security monitoring, and ensuring compliance with relevant security standards.

The Network/IT and Security Engineer will lead complex projects in the Data Center Network, IT, and Security domains, coordinating with numerous cross-functional teams. This role involves managing the entire project lifecycle, from planning requirements with internal customers and external partners to executing and delivering on time and within budget while addressing critical challenges in a matrix organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary campus-level liaison to network infrastructure/security-related owner-partner teams.
  • Notify owner partners, set timelines, and manage vendor training.
  • Conduct site walks for construction progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Facilitate weekly data center hall walks and field safety checks.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) standards.

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Capture stakeholder needs, manage expectations, and mitigate opposition.
  • Facilitate structured fiber and security kick-off meetings.
  • Coordinate radio frequency site surveys and GRadio design/installation.
  • Attend design page-turn and construction meetings to ensure alignment.
  • Oversee scope development, RFP issuance, and procurement activities.

Procurement and Material Management:

  • Manage BOM reviews, RFQ issuance, and vendor coordination for structured fiber, GEN switches, WAPS, and security archivers.
  • Distribute fiber blueprints and manage owner-furnished material logistics.
  • Use Picklist for OFCI material requests and oversee inventory movement.

Risk and Change Management:

  • Manage escalations, post-mortems, and task-level SLO commitments.
  • Update Risk/Rappy & Fluxx applications and ensure accurate project tracking.
  • Facilitate change management and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place.

Onboarding and Training:

  • Support onboarding for telecom firms and security integrators.
  • Coordinate Smart Track Work Package creation and compliance documentation.
  • Facilitate hardware and equipment assignments for contractors.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track productivity, safety, and quality metrics at the site level.
  • Provide schedule, milestone, and cashflow reports.
  • Monitor progress using the MARCUS tracker and partner portals.

Quality Assurance:

  • Enforce QA/QC checklists and ensure adherence to NetQA standards.
  • Verify construction quality during site walks and ensure timely issue resolution.

Project Closure:

  • Oversee warranty work and manage subcontractor closeout processes.
  • Ensure documentation and deliverables are completed for project closure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Networking, Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), or an equivalent field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Min 5+ years of experience in IT focusing on Network Security, Data Center Infrastructure, Network, Servers, Operating Systems, Backup, and Storage related technology.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure and operations, including physical and logical security measures.
  • Strong command of English, excellent verbal and presentation skills, great interpersonal skills, and experience in international collaboration.
  • Proven experience in managing Data Center Network, IT, and Security projects.
  • Strong knowledge of structured fiber, network infrastructure, and security systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (e.g., MARCUS, Risk/Rappy, Fluxx).
  • Ability to coordinate across global, cross-functional teams and manage complex schedules.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Experience with DCViz for route and rack layout reviews.
  • Knowledge of EH&S protocols and practices.
  • Expertise in procurement, vendor management, and financial tracking.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to handle dynamic project requirements.
