Job Description
- Organize and perform daily testing activities according to sample quantity, test methods, ESOP and QC plan. Accurately record all testing data as directed.
- Monitor technical screening on incoming samples and resolve any issues e.g. insufficient sample volume, incorrect method and other technical concerns.
- Monitor equipment performance; ensure functionality, and troubleshoot abnormalities.
- Isolate and make cultures of bacteria or other microorganisms in prescribed media, controlling moisture, aeration, temperature, and nutrition.
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff.
- Develop and prepare documents (ESOP, worksheets and records) for all protocols.
- Order and monitor inventory of media, consumables, chemicals, and other laboratory supplies.
- Ensure all samples are properly disposed of and follow environmental regulations.
- Participate in MS IEC/ISO17025 Accreditation by studying methods and plans, completing audit work papers, assisting in tracking corrective action and ensuring completion.
- Follow and monitor safety procedures in the laboratory.
- Perform development and ad-hoc activities as assigned by the superior/manager.
Qualifications
- Degree level in Microbiology/Biotechnology or equivalent professional experience in Science.
- Experience in Microbiology testing procedures and an understanding of testing requirements within an industry setting.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and good problem-solving skills.
- Solid working knowledge of method development and validation.
- Good knowledge of safety and compliance with lab procedures.
