Candidate must possess at least a degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Food Technology, or equivalent.
Candidate must have a MJMM CERT.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that all water microbiological tests of E.coli, fecal coliform, and Total Coliform are conducted in accordance with the standard operation procedures manual.
Conduct air quality testing for laboratory environments.
Perform quality control of media, including moisture content and media performance.
Perform method verification and validation of all microbiological testing as per the requirements of ISO 17025.
Perform identification of bacteria, including gram staining and biochemical tests as part of quality control.
Conduct proficiency testing as required by ISO 17025.
Perform statistical data analysis of microbiological tests, including measurement uncertainty and precision criteria.
Maintain growth of bacteria and prepare working stock for tests.
Ensure scheduled instrument maintenance and troubleshoot instrument issues.
Ensure that samples are analyzed within holding times, or highlight the situation when this is not possible.
Ensure that client turnaround times are met.
Identify and investigate repeats on samples showing anomalous results.
Perform required housekeeping duties.
Control consumable stock required for performance tests and ensure excess stock is not maintained.
Ensure that all tasks and analyses are performed within the time set by the Laboratory Manager and the relevant analysis standards.
Highlight anomalies in results, sample types, and sample behavior.
Calibrate equipment as required by the section laboratory and/or the QA/QC coordinator.
Verify laboratory equipment, including volumetric ware, thermometers, stopwatches, and spectrophotometers.
Label standards, including calibration, for quality control and reagents with concentration and expiry date.
Provide effective and efficient customer service while maintaining good business relationships with existing/potential customers.
Perform other duties as requested by the Managing Director and Laboratory Manager.
