About The Role
The Merchandise Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the customer’s procurement commodity pool, handling business opportunities, pricing strategies, and ensuring seamless pre-sales and after-sales support. This role requires strong analytical skills, market insight, and negotiation expertise to drive improvement for customer procurement efficiency, maximizing transaction volume, and continuously optimizing gross margin.
Key Responsibilities:
Commodity Pool Management:
- Develop and maintain a structured commodity pool that aligns with customer industry characteristics and procurement needs.
- Optimize product selection to maximize procurement coverage, ensuring seamless integration with the customer’s purchasing system.
- Continuously evaluate and update the commodity pool to reflect market trends, customer demand, and industry best practices.
Procurement System Integration:
- Coordinate with customer procurement and JD systems to ensure smooth data integration and real-time access to commodity information.
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient system docking, ensuring ongoing operational effectiveness.
- Monitor system performance and make necessary enhancements to improve procurement efficiency and user experience.
Business Opportunity Management & Demand Analysis:
- Identify and assess daily procurement opportunities, analyzing demand patterns to develop scenario-based commodity pools.
- Work closely with customers to anticipate needs and proactively adjust procurement strategies.
- Leverage data-driven insights to enhance product offerings and drive natural procurement growth.
Pricing Strategy & Cost Optimization:
- Conduct price inquiries, cost analysis, and assist in procurement for supplier negotiations to achieve competitive pricing and maximize profitability.
- Implement cost control measures while ensuring product quality and availability.
- Continuously analyze market fluctuations to adjust pricing strategies and maintain cost competitiveness.
Industry Trend Analysis & Solution Development:
- Research and assess industry trends to develop tailored commodity solutions that align with market demands.
- Formulate strategic plans to enhance product competitiveness and improve customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure solutions are effectively implemented and optimized over time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in industrial products industry or related fields, including extensive experience in key positions such as procurement, merchandise management or supply chain management.
- Strong knowledge of national and international supply chains, with expertise in inventory management, cross-border logistics, and customer fulfillment solutions.
- Strong understanding of procurement systems, commodity management, and supplier negotiations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis, pricing strategies, and cost control.
- Proficiency in Mandarin would give an added advantage.
