Job Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the Emergency Department
- Maintain good working relationships with interdepartmental personnel, physicians, nurses, and all allied health staff
- Participate in quality improvement programs
- Provide quality healthcare service in relation to communication, examination, diagnosing, and managing patients
- Provide backup medical cover in the event of an emergency for the hospital while on duty
- Actively participate in providing CME and CNE talks organized by the hospital
- Assess the nature and severity of clinical problems of patients
- Initiate investigations and proper management of clinical problems of patients
- Review all investigations ordered
- Manage patients until the respective specialist arrives
- Resuscitate and stabilize ill patients
- Assist specialists in providing treatment to patients
- Refer and admit patients to the respective specialist
- Discharge patients with medications and follow-up plans, if necessary, after adequate treatment if patients do not require admission
- Carry out minor procedures, e.g., suturing, intravenous cannulation, etc.
- Counsel patients and family members on the nature of medical problems and treatment
- Respond to Code Blue immediately and lead resuscitation procedures until the respective specialist arrives
- Accompany ill patients in the ambulance as per guidelines
- Prepare medical reports within 14 days as per guidelines
- Carry out any other duties as requested by superiors
Job Requirements
- Possess a Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or any equivalent) from a recognized institution
- Registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and possess a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a practicing doctor
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under tight timelines and make appropriate medical decisions
- Willing to work on a shift rotation basis
