Job description

Job Responsibilities

  • Assure development and running of the most effective media management for clients in Malaysia, including managing the performance of media agencies, key liaison with clients, and collaborations with digital and traditional media partners such as Google, Meta, Media Prima, etc.
  • Take accountability for the profitability of accounts, budgets, timelines, and performance.

Working Relationships

  • Reports to: Media Director
  • Interfaces with: Clients, external vendors and agencies, internal co-workers, and media partners.
  • Takes initiative and accountability in managing all media processes and projects with clients.
  • Collaborate with partners and co-workers in planning and strategizing effective media plans.
  • Able to think creatively and bring forth innovative strategies and plans to clients.
  • Define, review, and control briefing, budgeting, strategy, approvals, timelines, reporting, and billing with the media agencies to achieve the best possible services to clients.
  • Prepare media schedules for clients and review related billing documents from media agencies, outlining the billing process to the Billing Accountant.
  • Provide analysis, recommendations, and consolidation of reports in a timely manner to clients.
  • Ensure optimization of performance and effectiveness of media spending across all media campaigns.
  • Calculate and provide budget forecasting for yearly marketing planning and projects supported by media agencies.
  • Initiate and manage close relationships with clients, subsidiaries, distributors, and suppliers.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and analyze media offers, vendors, competitors, and market insights.
  • Ensure close collaboration and timeline management across co-workers and media agencies for material delivery and timely campaign launches.
  • Experience with media tools such as Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Meta Business Suite, SimilarWeb, Nielsen, etc. is advantageous.
  • Substantial understanding of the market and ability to research and curate market, media, and competitor landscapes/insights, key trends, and innovations.
  • Inquisitive, takes initiative, and is open to ad hoc work when required.

People Management

  • Ensure quality and timeline of plans, schedules, budgets, projects, and work activities of the team.
  • Ability to negotiate, convince, or persuade others and build healthy working relationships across all key partners, clients, and co-workers.
  • Ability to lead and engage with media agencies and partners.

Profile (Education, Experience, and General Job Requirements)

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • More than 3 years of integrated media background, preferably with high-profile automotive brands.
  • Passion for media excellence that delivers effective and efficient strategies and outcomes.
  • Holistic understanding of the market, media strategies, plans, and key performance metrics.

Skills and Personality

  • 5-7 years in the same or similar media business area, ideally related to automotive or high-value consumer products.
  • Experience in a cross-functional business environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of integrated media across digital and traditional channels, with an understanding of key performance metrics.
  • Capability for innovation and willingness to explore new media solutions (ad formats, platforms, technology, etc.) offered by media agencies/partners to lead client success.
  • Ability to calculate and control complex figures and facts.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate a structured workflow with attention to detail.
  • Extensive project management experience - from planning, agency management, budgeting, billing, optimizations to reporting.
  • Excellent understanding of social media, mobile-first strategies, performance analysis, insights tools, and new technologies.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written; other languages are a plus.
  • Dynamic personality with the ability to engage people with appreciation and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to negotiate and deal with challenging clients and situations.
  • Ability to manage conflicts and solve problems independently.
  • Ability to identify priorities and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assertiveness to represent the company's interests.
  • Ability for consultation, mentoring, and collaboration with clients and co-workers.
  • Readiness for action and ability to work under pressure.
