Mechanical Technician

We are looking for a suitable candidate based in our subsidiary, XSD Omya Sdn Bhd located in Kulim, Kedah to assume the role as Maintenance Technician. The incumbent has a mission to assure the proper operation of plant processing equipment by performing mechanical plant maintenance as directed.

Key accountabilities:

1. Inspect, troubleshoot and repair all plant mechanical systems as directed by the maintenance manager.
2. Make periodic inspections of plant equipment and report its condition to the supervisor for further evaluation.
3. Regularly communicate interdepartmentally on the status of jobs, projected completion time, and the need (if any) for assistance.
4. Perform rebuild/retrofits of mechanical equipment and industrial fabrication functions as needed.
5. Perform basic mechanical maintenance functions and basic mechanical fabrication functions as needed.
6. Be available to attend to emergency and urgent circumstantial situations.
7. Use the plant maintenance software system to query for open emergency and planned mechanical maintenance jobs and to accurately and completely document work effort and job status.
8. Act as a mechanical vendor liaison. Coordinate inspection and repair schedules, ensure parts availability, confirm the accuracy of bills of labor and materials, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. SKM/Certificate/Diploma in mechanical/mechatronics engineering.
2. Good command of both oral and written Bahasa Malaysia is required. Proficiency in both oral and written English and/or Chinese will be an added advantage.
3. 2-5 years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.
4. Areas of competence in maintaining mechanical equipment include, but are not limited to: mechanical rotating, static, lubrication, vibration, balancing & alignment.
5. Work on 3 rotating shifts.
