Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (based in Pasir Gudang)
Purpose of the position
• Ensure Process Equipment performs safely at required reliability with minimum cost of ownership through preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Minimise the impact of process equipment failures to the business.
• Ensure compliance to internal and external regulatory requirements.
Principal responsibilities
Geographical Area of responsibility:
• Plants and systems on the assigned site(s).
Functional area of responsibility:
• Supervise the work of plant technicians for process equipment related activities and coach them.
• Manage or supervise contractors for mechanical maintenance related work.
Functional responsibilities
Operations:
• Support plant technicians in mechanical isolation.
Maintenance:
• Ensure compliance to the Linde work processes.
• Ensure adequate vendor/contractor support.
• Define and implement Preventive Maintenance activities and ensure they are carried out.
• Ensure predictive maintenance equipment is operational, related services are in place and activities are carried out.
• Budget, plan and execute corrective maintenance as an outcome of failures, preventive, predictive maintenance.
• Develop scope of work for major turnaround; ensure availability of required material and services. Supervise the execution of turnaround work.
• Define and maintain required local spares.
Projects & Modifications:
• Design, specify and implement minor modifications (including emergency situations). Initiate engineering management of change process for modification.
• Ensure compliance to local regulations and obtain necessary approvals.
• Implement corrective actions from audits and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
• Support the execution of the modifications from Alerts, LFRE and directives.
• Update and maintain as-built drawings.
Troubleshooting:
• Investigate any process equipment related trips.
• Determine pre-requisites to restart after a trip.
• Perform contingency planning and execute in case of emergency.
• Perform Root cause failure analysis for all process equipment related trips/failures.
Reporting/performance management:
• Report related repair cost.
• Classify every related trip in downtime reporting along with the root cause analysis of the incident. Report completion of the Corrective actions from audits, Root Cause Analysis, Alerts & Directives in reporting platform.
Key interfaces
External:
• Suppliers - Selection of suitable suppliers, agree on technical scope/solution, stage gate inspection to ensure quality.
• Contractors - Assess technical competency, assign job as per the assessment, ensure safety and quality of work.
• Government bodies - Ensure compliance to local regulations and necessary approvals/licenses.
Internal:
• Procurement - Make purchases for materials, assets and service.
• Platforms - Align implementation of directive, alerts and improvement initiatives. Develop/share Root Cause Analysis.
• Site staff - Coordinate any maintenance, troubleshooting etc.
• Human Resource Dept - HR issues about his direct reports.
