Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Chief Mechanic/Maintenance Supervisor/Mechanical Engineer to join our team as Mechanical Engineer. This role is pivotal to facilitate asset reliability and ensure uptime of the Rigs across the fleet. The ideal candidate will be a robust planner with a proven track record in supporting drilling rig assets.

Key accountabilities

• Provide daily technical support with technical downtime issues.
• Liaise with OEM’s as required.
• Travel offshore to assist in technical problem solving and troubleshooting as required.
• Assist with technical audit function in relation to maintenance and technical procedures.
• Assist with Preventive Maintenance (PM) development as required.
• Assist with annual budget preparation.
• Assist with offshore minor projects and rig modifications.
• Assist rigs in follow up to ensure compliance with Technical MOC procedure.
• Assist with follow up on onshore equipment repairs as required.
• Assist with client related technical issues.
• Assist Project Engineers when required.
• Assist HOD with the design and implementation of troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in duty phone roster system for technical issues outside office hours.
• Be familiar with all systems, directives and procedures and actively participate in the implementation.
• Be familiar with all rigs mechanical systems and controls fleet wide.
• Be prepared to travel worldwide at short notice when required.
• Promote safety awareness and lead safe work practice among all the personnel.
• Report all hazards and positively intervene in all observed unsafe acts.

Qualifications & skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineer, or Mechanical trade certified.
• 5+ years' position of Chief Mechanic or Snr Project Mechanical Engineer.
• Comprehensive knowledge of, and hands on experience in maintaining, and troubleshooting rig equipment.
• Competent in the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
• Thorough knowledge of Preventive, and Condition Based Maintenance philosophies.
• Thorough knowledge of, and hands on experience maintaining and troubleshooting hydraulic systems and controls.
• Strong knowledge of power generation systems and engine OEM electronic status and diagnostic monitoring system. (e.g., CAT ET laptop).
• Competent in maintaining and troubleshooting Well Control Equipment.
• Strong knowledge of applicable API/ABS/regulatory requirements.
• Experience with the planning and execution of equipment 5 yearly overhauls and or major shipyard works.
• Maintained fitness level as per offshore requirement.
