The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in the product lifecycle by owning the qualification of the manufacturing process to the required technical specifications, efficiency, and quality. This individual participates in the specification review, engineering build (EB), manufacturing build (MB), pilot production (PP) process, partnering with manufacture partners, YETI design engineers, quality engineers to create process validation plan (PVP), production part approval process (PPAP), and working with engineering, operations, test lab, and category management to ensure that manufacturing processes are fully validated and ready for mass production.

Responsibilities:

  1. Part of the YETI’s Manufacturing Engineering Team to review drawing, product specification, work with manufacture partners for production feasibility.
  2. Review production process flow and assess PFMEA document.
  3. Work with validation engineer on DVP&R (design validation plan and report).
  4. Create PVP to validate process capability and stability.
  5. Oversee and document different stages of tooling trial runs per the qualification processes.
  6. Oversee and document Engineering build, develop a robust production flow and meet DVP requirement.
  7. Oversee and document Manufacturing build, run products in mass production condition and meet PVP requirement, identify keep process parameters window and documenting.
  8. Collaborate with quality engineer for PPAP approval and sign PSA (Production Start Approval) from ME aspect.
  9. Work with manufacturing partners and YETI internal partners at production ramp up phase, deliver products at right time, and right quality.
  10. Solve manufacturing process issues at product lifecycle period.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  1. At least 4 years of manufacturing qualification or production development experience, project management or quality experience is a plus.
  2. Knowledge of plastics injection, especially for high tonnage injection products.
  3. Knowledge of Stainless-Steel processes: deep drawing, hydroforming, welding, is a plus.
  4. Must be able to review product designs by evaluating CAD designs and engineering drawings.
  5. Experienced in problem solving methodology and statistic tools.
  6. Lean production mindset and experience.
  7. GD&T drawing reading is preferred.
  8. Excellent interpersonal, and presentation/communication skills.
  9. Strong command of both written and spoken English, with competency of managing communications with suppliers, colleagues, and customers in English. Additional language fluency required based on location of role, local language is a norm.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, etc.).
