Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive reliability strategy for the cement plant, focusing on improving equipment uptime and reducing breakdowns.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and measure plant reliability performance.

Preventive and Predictive Maintenance

  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to conduct regular inspections, servicing, and repairs to prevent equipment failures and breakdowns.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance techniques, such as condition and equipment health monitoring, to identify potential issues and take proactive measures.
  • Conduct thorough root-cause analyses for equipment failures and reliability incidents to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Document and share findings to prevent recurrence and improve maintenance practices.

Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)

  • Apply Reliability-Centered Maintenance principles to determine the most effective maintenance strategies for critical assets.
  • Optimize maintenance schedules and practices based on RCM analysis.

Equipment Performance Optimization

  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to implement modifications or upgrades that enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Spare Parts Management

  • Oversee the management of spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of critical components and reduce downtime during maintenance activities.

Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Prioritize safety in all maintenance activities and ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to equipment maintenance and reliability initiatives.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and manage a team of reliability engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance the team's skills and effectiveness.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and overall plant performance.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to drive reliability excellence.

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Show strong leadership in the plant supporting the teams while maintaining good discipline in attendance and timekeeping.
  • Focus on team development following clear objectives for 5S, HSE, cost reduction, customer service, and people development.
  • Work closely with the Head of Manufacturing to develop skills and systems in the plant, which will provide a solid foundation for Hume Cement's future.
  • Create and enforce safety protocols, conduct safety training for staff, and foster a safety-oriented culture.
  • Manage the plant's budget effectively, including controlling operational costs and overseeing procurement processes.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with senior management and other stakeholders, providing regular reports on production, performance, safety, and other key metrics.
  • Ensure that each member adheres to the policies and procedures announced by management.

Organisational Responsibilities:

  • Manage and motivate a team of supervisors, engineers, operators, and other personnel to foster a cohesive and productive work environment.
  • Implement sustainable practices and ensure the plant adheres to all relevant environmental standards.
  • Identify areas for enhancement, implement best practices, and drive overall operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance or reliability management role within the cement manufacturing or similar heavy industrial sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of cement plant operations, equipment, and processes.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance strategies, predictive maintenance techniques, and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Analytical mindset and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Safety-focused mindset and commitment to environmental compliance.
