Job description
  • Development, implementation, and management of effective legal systems within the company, ensuring alignment with the company's vision and mission.
  • Review, vet, and draft all company agreements and legal documents, ensuring they meet legal standards and protect the company’s interests.
  • Identify and assess potential legal risks to the company, providing timely advice to management on mitigating these risks.
  • Provide legal opinions and solutions on various issues, assisting management in making informed decisions that align with the best interests of the company.
  • Conduct research on legal issues affecting the company, keeping abreast of legal developments, and advising the company accordingly.
  • Coordinate enforcement and court cases involving the company, working closely with external legal counsel to encourage out-of-court settlements where possible.
  • Collaborate with external legal advisors on critical legal issues and court cases, ensuring that the company's legal position is well-represented.
  • Maintain an organized and secure legal filing system for the company, ensuring easy access and retrieval of documents.
  • Together with respective function owners, to act as the company’s liaison together with government agencies, local authorities, and trade associations, fostering positive relationships and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Compliance Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive regulatory compliance register, ensuring adherence to both Malaysian and international standards.
  • Serve as the primary resource for all regulatory compliance matters, conducting risk assessments, and providing recommendations to management on issues such as facility and product registration, formulation, marketing claims, and more.
  • Prepare detailed reports on compliance incidents, investigations, and relevant legislative developments, offering solutions and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Manage and maintain familiarity with Halal certification, trade agreements, ESG, BRC, HACCP, SQF, EMP, and GMP standards, representing the company in relevant industry committees and conferences.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the regulatory document library, facilitating knowledge transfer and enhancing the company’s regulatory capabilities.
  • Act as the liaison person to communicate with regulatory agencies on compliance strategies, requirements, and submission follow-ups, ensuring the company’s interests are represented.
  • Support the compliance program by developing and delivering effective training and communication materials to various audiences within the company.
  • Work with various departments to implement and maintain compliance policies and procedures, fostering a culture of integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding regulatory and compliance issues, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
  • Undertake ad-hoc assignments or special projects as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess LLB (Hons) from a recognized law school, qualified as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court in Malaya.
  • Experience in both legal and compliance roles, with strong problem-solving, stakeholder management, and interdepartmental collaboration skills.
  • Possess good writing capability within the ambit of legal, corporate and business tones.
  • Possess strong legal research methodology skills.
  • Ability to articulate and present complex information, regulations and policies to various audiences in simple and easy to understand manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to various audiences.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, particularly in interpreting complex regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, root cause analysis, risk assessment and corrective-preventive action.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and is able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong moral code and sense of ethics.
  • Must be willing to work in Pulau Indah, Selangor.
