Job description

Responsible for all Industrial Relations activities for the Company, including handling all matters related to disciplinary actions, grievances, employee performance issues, counselling, staff misconduct, advising and guiding management on the best practices related to employer and employee relations and ensure Company practices and policies adhere to requirements of employment laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage industrial relations team to enforce 7-Eleven Industrial Relations and OSHA policies.
  • Responsible for developing as well as reviewing the policies, procedures, guidelines and propose changes if required for the improvement of Industrial Relations and Company policies and procedures and for the compliance with local labour laws and OSHA regulations.
  • Act as the primary contact and manage any dispute resolutions involving management, employees and legal bodies.
  • Establish good relationships with significant industry players, legal practitioners and related government agencies under the Human Resources Ministry and provide advice accordingly.
  • Partner directly with stakeholders to provide value-added services and advisory in labour laws and grievance policies.
  • Identify and handle any grievance, PIP or misconduct process.
  • Consult with team in HR regarding HR policies.
  • Provide opportunities for subordinates ongoing development.
  • Co-ordinate and integrate all IR activities across 7-Eleven in a coherent plan.
  • Maintain and analyse industrial relation trend, developments and best practices.
  • Manage and track department budget.
  • Responsible for OSHA matters including planning & conducting health & safety audit, setting up OSHA committee, planning & organising OSHA meetings, etc.
  • Partner closely with the Risk Management team and collaborate with HR team leads to ensure effective mitigation and management of HR-related risks.
  • Performing any other tasks/ activities as and when required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum has Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Law, Human Resource Management, Psychology or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of Industrial Relations experience in a managerial capacity.
  • Display evidence of experiences in developing IR and HR-related policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge in Malaysian Labor Laws, Industrial Relations Act, OSHA and relevant statutory legislations.
  • Must possess experience managing an IR team.
  • Experience in a retail industry with multiple worksites would be advantageous.
  • A leader and team player with pleasant personality and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to details.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Good presentation skill is an added advantage.
