The position is responsible for credit risk management for Private Banking Singapore and credit portfolio management supporting Singapore. Work scope includes the assessment and approval of credit transactions and policies, monitoring and managing the credit portfolios, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing relationships with key stakeholders. The position is to ensure that credit risks are undertaken within the Risk Appetite as approved by the Board.

Job Responsibilities

  • Credit risk management – as second line of defence, support the credit/risk activities in Private Banking ("PB") Singapore and provide risk oversights function in PB Singapore focusing on credit risk management
  • Credit policies and frameworks – review, improve and align credit policies and frameworks within Group to ensure effectiveness and compliance; stay informed about PB industry best practices and regulatory changes to adapt credit policies accordingly
  • Credit delegation – to exercise credit delegation authority jointly with business/PB Singapore
  • Credit Portfolio Management – management credit risk portfolios and analyze data to identify trends and potential risks
  • Optimize the bank’s credit performance through proactive risk management strategies
  • Collaboration – work closely with various departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to align credit policies with overall business objectives; collaborate with front office to balance growth objectives with risk mitigation; foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the credit department
  • Risk analysis – conduct in-depth risk analysis, utilizing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data; develop models and tools for assessing and monitoring credit risk
  • Regulatory compliance – ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to credit activities; keep abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and implement necessary adjustments
  • Communication – effectively communicate credit policies and decisions to internal stakeholders; collaborate with management in conveying credit-related insights to the board or other stakeholders
  • Continuous improvement – identify areas for continuous improvement in credit processes and implement enhancements; foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the credit team

Other Responsibilities

  • Scope of Credit Portfolio Management to be extended to other business units in Singapore Branch.
  • Credit initiatives for Group Private Banking and SG Branch.

Job Requirements

  • Degree with Omega Exam or any recognized Credit Certification
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience of similar capacity with relevant first line experience preferred and/or relevant credit/risk experiences in private banking
  • Preferably with some years of credit/risk experiences in corporate banking/finance.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, credit analysis, and regulatory requirements (eg from BNM, MAS)
  • Preferably with some experience in data analytical work, programming such as Python and business intelligence software such as Tableau
