Manager -Department Ocean Exports

C.H. Robinson is currently seeking a Manager - Department to lead the Ocean Exports Forwarding Team in Klang, Selangor.

The Manager - Department is accountable for the overall performance and effectiveness of assigned teams, ensuring the team is appropriately staffed with the right talent and managed to meet expectations in order to achieve business objectives.

The role may work independently or in partnership with other leaders to evaluate business needs and identify, build, and implement changes that create efficiencies, improve productivity, deliver quality, and achieve desired cost to serve. Drives effective change management within teams to ensure adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes. The individual shall conduct and join internal and external meetings regularly to support business.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and support the subordinate in the day-to-day overall operation for the accurate and timely execution of department operations to ensure efficiency and high quality.
2. Resolve daily problems or issues to ensure smooth working processes.
3. Provide timely responses to customer and internal requests/notices.
4. Manage individual and team performances and balance workload.
5. Responsible for profit and loss for this department.
6. Establish good relationships with shipping lines.
7. Responsible for operational quality and corresponding KPIs.
8. Collaborate with other departments to ensure business objectives are met with the business plan.
9. Act as escalation point and resolve cross-team conflicts.
10. Escalate operational service issues to other teams or management.
11. Escalate unresolved operational service issues to the next management level.
12. Responsible for implementing new processes, standards, guidelines, and systems when required.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
2. Minimum 8 years’ experience in the freight forwarding business with hands-on experience managing air freight and ocean freight operations in an MNC environment.
3. Minimum 3 years of direct people management experience.
4. Must have knowledge of export/import operations and regulations.

3. Proficient in oral and written English, as well as Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin, to facilitate effective communication with stakeholders.
4. Ability to multitask and prioritize.
5. Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
