• Lead and manage the mechanical and electrical design process for data center projects from concept to completion.
• Review, validate, and coordinate design drawings, technical specifications, and schematics for HVAC, power, fire suppression, lighting, and building automation systems.
• Ensure M&E designs comply with Uptime Institute Tier standards (I–IV), ASHRAE, TIA-942, and other relevant global and local codes.
• Collaborate with architectural, civil, and IT design teams to ensure cross-discipline integration.
• Coordinate design with client’s requirements, including capacity planning (power, cooling, rack space).
• Perform technical evaluations of M&E systems, ensuring design efficiency, scalability, and compliance with relevant standards.
• Evaluate and integrate energy efficiency and sustainability elements (e.g., green building certification, ISO 50001).
• Support the project team during tendering, procurement, and construction stages by providing technical input and reviewing submissions.
• Prepare or oversee the preparation of BOQs (Bill of Quantities), design reports, load calculations, and specifications.
• Attend and lead design coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Track design milestones and manage timelines to meet overall project delivery schedules.
• Review and approve M&E system submittals from vendors and contractors.
• Provide technical clarification during bidding and construction phases.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and commissioning activities.
• Evaluate value engineering proposals from contractors without compromising design intent.
• Identify design risks and propose mitigation strategies early in the project.
• Ensure all designs follow fire protection, life safety, and EMI/RFI mitigation standards.
• Maintain a strong focus on operational safety, ease of maintenance, and modular/scalable infrastructure in the design.
• Produce design progress reports, highlight critical issues, and communicate them to senior management and clients.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including design changes, approvals, and version control.
• Support the creation of as-built documentation and handover packages at project completion.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
A Master’s Degree in a relevant field is an advantage but not mandatory.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) – mandatory.
Competent Person (Chargeman/HT) certifications (for electrical engineers) are a plus.
Green Building Index (GBI) Facilitator or LEED/AP certification is an advantage (for sustainability-focused projects).
Familiarity with or certification in Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, or TIA-942 standards is highly regarded.
Project Management certifications like PMP or PRINCE2 are a bonus.
8–12 years of relevant working experience, with at least 3–5 years in a data center.
Proven experience leading M&E design for mission-critical infrastructure projects is essential.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Navisworks, and design calculation tools (e.g., Carrier).
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), SCADA, DCIM, and electrical single-line diagrams.
Strong understanding of:
