Landstack is looking for a Town and Country Planner who wants an exciting, rewarding and alternative career!

Based just outside Cirencester in the Cotswolds. Salary up to £40,000pa FTE.

Landstack is an exciting prop-tech company whose software and AI products are taking the market by storm. Landstack streamlines the land identification and appraisal processes for developers, promoters, agents, and planners. Our platform uniquely consolidates a huge amount of planning data (like planning applications and policies) into a user-friendly format, saving time and enhancing decision-making. Land GPT, just launched, provides the ability to generate a simple planning statement for anywhere in Great Britain. Fundamentally we are designing products to be a one-stop data solution that our users can spend less time researching and more time earning!

What we need you to do:

This role involves working closely with our technology and data science teams to enhance and expand our planning data sets. You will also play a key role in the design and enhancement of AI-driven products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in town and country planning, data analysis, and GIS technologies, coupled with a passion for tech-driven solutions in the planning industry.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Data Management and Analysis:
    • Manage and analyse large data sets related to all things development planning from local plan policies to constraints.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity, and update datasets to reflect current trends and developments.
  2. GIS and Spatial Analysis:
    • Utilize GIS software for spatial analysis and mapping.
    • Help to develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring seamless integration with our platform.
  3. Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with software developers and data scientists to translate planning concepts into technical requirements.
    • Collaborate with existing users (through the Business Development team) to understand their data needs and challenges.
  4. Innovative Solution Development:
    • Contribute to the development of new tools and features for our platform that address key planning challenges.
    • Stay abreast of emerging trends in planning and technology to inform product development.
  5. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on data findings and project progress.
    • Document methodologies and processes for data collection and analysis.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  1. A good basic knowledge of UK Town and Country Planning legislation
  2. Experience with strategic planning, formation of local plans and/or representations to them
  3. A good working knowledge of the planning process
  4. Extremely diligent & organised with highly developed time/task management skills
  5. High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  6. Resilient, assertive and confident whilst working in a busy environment
  7. Ability to be completely discrete and maintain confidentiality
  8. Excellent written and communication skills
  9. Proficiency in MS Office
  10. Logical/lateral thinker, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and problem-solve
  11. An interest in geography data desirable but not essential
  12. A desire to make things happen, help us grow and keep us abreast of latest trends
