Job description

Role Description
Primary role involves drafting of Wills and other legal documents, when necessary. Responsibilities also include Trusts and estates administration, attend beneficiaries’ enquiries and meetings.
What will you do?

Legal

  • To review, draft and negotiate legal-related documents including but not limited to will, private trust, and other related agreement/documents.
  • To keep management abreast of the latest development of relevant laws, regulation and to advise on the compliance requirements from time to time.
  • To assist in discussions/negotiations process on behalf of UBB Amanah Berhad as and when instructed.
  • To analyze, research, and summarize legal information.
  • To liaise with external lawyers and other consultants.
  • To attend to any legal queries within UBB Amanah Berhad.
  • To prepare legal opinion as and when requested.
  • To perform any other duties as directed from time to time as required by the management of UBB Amanah.

Will-writing

  • Respond to requests for draft Wills in compliance with the given timelines.
  • Clarify instructions with the agencies where necessary. If required, explain the Wills drafting service to and effectively communicate and manage their expectations on the service (including that there can be no direct communication with clients).
  • Effectively communicate (drafting, typing, scanning, sending emails, making calls, following up) in respect of all documentation and activities required to draft and execute the Will and to lodge documents in safe custody.
  • Active involvement with the initial client onboarding process, be responsible for the collection of the establishment fee and other related costs.
  • Establish initial contact with the family of the deceased and the agencies, and where necessary attend the estate and beneficiaries meeting.
  • Explain the process to and effectively communicate with beneficiaries and agencies to manage their expectations.
  • Provide regular estate administration progress reports/feedback to all beneficiaries in compliance with the timelines set.
  • Ensure that estate accounts meet regulatory requirements.

Trust administration

  • Liaise with 3rd party such as insurance providers in all policy assignments and properly documenting the respective Trust files.
  • Keep abreast of legislation and industry changes and continue to acquire and keep abreast of market developments.
  • In addition to your normal duties, you may be required to undertake other duties within your capacity from time to time as notified by the Company.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in a fiduciary service or Trustee industry.
  • Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office application.
  • Good communication skill, can work in team, positive attitude and willing to learn.
  • Required language(s) : Bahasa Malaysia and English. Mandarin proficiency (writing and speaking) is mandatory.
  • Attained a Bachelor of Laws.
