Provide expert legal advice and support to an organization, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. They manage legal risks, draft and review contracts, and offer guidance on various legal matters such as employment law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Contract Drafting and Review:
Draft, review, and manage various contracts, agreements, and legal documents, including tenancy agreements, service agreements, NDAs, supplier agreements, and employment contracts for operations in Malaysia and Singapore.
Ensure all contracts comply with legal frameworks and mitigate risks.
Track milestones, renewals, and obligations through proper document management systems. - Legal Research and Advisory:
Provide timely legal advice and support to all departments, ensuring that business decisions comply with Malaysian and Singaporean laws and regulations.
Stay updated with changes in local and international laws relevant to the F&B industry. - Regulatory Compliance:
Oversee licensing and permits related to operations, including food shop licenses and foreign worker management.
Ensure compliance with all F&B industry regulations, laws, and corporate governance requirements, including health and safety, labor laws, and environmental standards.
Support the development, implementation, and continuous review of company policies, processes, and legal frameworks to align with the company’s operational goals and regulatory obligations.
Assist in managing intellectual property matters, including trademarks, branding, and licensing. - Litigation and Dispute Support:
Monitor and manage potential legal risks, disputes, or claims, working with external legal counsel when necessary.
Support human capital teams on employee-related issues, such as terminations, redundancies, and disciplinary actions in line with Malaysian and Singaporean regulations.
Facilitate investigations and resolution of whistleblower reports.
Job Specification:
Requirements & Skill:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent; must be a qualified legal practitioner in Malaysia.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within the F&B, retail, or franchise industries.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian laws and regulations, including employment law, contract law, and tenancy law.
• Experience in managing contracts, regulatory compliance, and legal risks.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and legal document management software.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• High integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
• Experience in handling matters related to Singapore law will be an advantage.
