About the role

As the Legal Manager at Hong Leong Assurance Berhad, you will be responsible for providing strategic and proactive legal support to the company. This is a full-time position based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. You will be a key member of the legal team, ensuring the company's operations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

What you'll be doing

• Provide accurate and effective legal advice and assistance to internal clients including all business units, divisions, or departments of the Company to safeguard the Company's interests.
• Assist Head of Legal to attend all meetings, discussions, and negotiations with internal clients as well as with external parties pertaining to the subject matter assigned, including preparation of the minutes of meetings.
• Identify legal risks and provide legal protection and risk management advice to Management.
• Draft, review, advise, and negotiate documentation for business transactions, and support various business activities including contracts related to insurance, property, finance, and employment, as well as assist in corporate exercises.
• Liase with, manage, and monitor external solicitors’ performance including compilation of solicitors’ monthly reports for circulation to management and/or reporting to the respective committee or Board of Directors.
• Formulate relevant policies, procedures, processes, guidelines, or manuals on the management of legal risks and/or the management of the Legal Department's processes.
• Assist Head of Legal with contract drafting/vetting of all relevant documents assigned including contracts related to insurance, property, finance, and employment, and assist in corporate exercises.
• Take accountability for driving results with and through others, ensuring achievement is in line with the mission of the Legal Department's function.
• Assist the Head of Legal on all matters related to the Legal Division as assigned from time to time.
• Ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, and regulations.
• Perform other duties as delegated by the Management.

What we're looking for

• Relevant exposure or experience in legal matters relating to insurance matters would be advantageous, but not necessary.
• 6 to 10 years working experience.
• Bachelor of Laws or LLB.
• Admitted to the High Court of Malaya.
