Job description

General: To assist the company in all legal matters including conducting legal analysis and researching legal matters. To prevent, navigate, research and resolve legal disputes through the analysis of relevant laws, argument development, evidence collection, and legal representation. Also, to advise management on relevant legal issues.

Contract Drafting and Review: Drafting and reviewing contracts related to logistics services, such as service level agreements, warehousing contracts, and supply chain agreements. Ensuring all contracts are legally sound and in the company's best interest. To assist, review, audit and oversee the preparation and finalization of all legal documents and to identify the most important issues that need to be sorted out on a priority basis. To be involved in preparing and drafting of different acts and legal submissions and draft the authoritative relevant legal opinions.

Regulatory Compliance: Keeping updated to the latest industry guideline set forth by the Ministry and ensuring the company complies with government regulations. To ensure all business processes, strategies, and actions comply with all relevant local, state, federal, and international laws. To maintain the Company’s legal files and ensuring that the working practices are in accordance with its policies and regulations.

Dispute Resolution: Handling legal disputes, such as claims for damaged goods, contract breaches, or service issues. This could involve representing the Company in mediation, or managing tribunals, depending on the case.

Risk Management: Identifying legal risks in the company’s operations, including issues with suppliers, customers, or employees, and recommending ways to mitigate those risks. To execute necessary precautions and measures to shield the Company from any legal risks.

Advisory Role: Providing legal advice to management and other subsidiaries and departments on a range of legal matters that impact business operations. To prepare current and future strategies to ensure proper legal implementation. To continuously communicate with relevant parties (subsidiaries and departments) on all the above tasks.

Legal Documentation: Ensuring all necessary legal documents are properly prepared, stored, and maintained. This includes agreements, corporate governance documents, insurance policies, and intellectual property agreements.

Job Requirements:

  • Education and Certification: Must have a law degree from an accredited law school and CLP.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year PQE experience practicing law in a commercial or corporate setting.
  • Legal Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of the law including contract law, corporate law, employment law, and other related areas.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills: Must have strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively advise subsidiaries and departments, negotiate contracts, and resolve disputes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify legal issues, evaluate risks, and provide effective legal solutions to clients. Approachable, team player, detail and results-oriented.
  • Business Acumen: Good understanding of business and industry practices and should be able to provide legal advice that is aligned with the business objectives of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Must have strong attention to detail to review and analyze legal documents, contracts, and other legal material.

Ethical Standards: Must adhere to high ethical standards and uphold the confidentiality of company and client information.
