Responsibilities

  • Providing proactive legal assistance and advice on various legal issues such as commercial contracts, dispute resolution, government funding agreements, regulatory and governance.
  • Supervise the tenancy administration process for mall and office tower include negotiation of tenancy terms with tenants.
  • Assist the business in compliance with all various legal requirements.
  • Advise on minimal liability and legal exposure for the business.
  • Ensure that the legal documents, correspondences, contracts and other contractual documents are effectively drafted, reviewed, interpreted and vetted.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of the Prospectus and Renewal Prospectus under Interest Scheme for registration with SSM and anything relating thereto.
  • Assist in administrative and secretarial work within LED.
  • Assist superior in providing advice and counsel on a variety of legal matters and problems involving the Group.
  • Work with various Heads of Departments, Branches and Site Offices on developing and modifying practices and procedures to conform to legal requirements.
  • Create and amend standard form agreements to ensure consistency with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Take decisive actions on various legal matters and assess contentious and uncontroversial issues.
  • Manage external and internal legal resources where required.
  • Established and maintain the contractual compliance processes and procedures, identifying compliance issues and supporting the resolutions.
  • Ensure all legal documents are correctly maintained and updated.
  • Evaluate, build and maintain a network of law firms for specific assignments and issues.
  • Assess and advise effectively to minimize and control risks to the Group, ensuring that the system, controls and processes are appropriate and relevant.
  • Represent the Group in ensuring the efficient handling and winning resolution of all negotiations and disputes.
  • Advise and ensure the business complies with the legislation and regulatory requirements involving data protection.
  • Research and analyze implications of case laws, legislation and regulatory matters that may affect the Group and report back to the management.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superior or Senior Management from time to time.

Job Requirements

  • Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Law and admitted to the Malaysian Bar with minimum 5-6 years post qualification working experience.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in commercial law (especially properties, companies, business) and good understanding and working knowledge of corporate law.
  • A self-starter with innate drive for achievement and ability to work independently / thrives under pressure.
  • To attend to all legal issues, provide legal advice and support to the Group, department and subsidiary company in all legal matters.
  • Conducting legal research and to keep abreast of laws.
  • Must possess a good command of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to converse in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
