This is a key role in the planning, design, and execution of the subsea installation for the project. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the subsea installation engineering team and ensuring that the subsea systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with the project's technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the subsea installation engineering team for the SURF project, overseeing the design and execution of the subsea systems' installation, including risers, umbilicals, and flowlines.
- Develop and review installation strategies, ensuring that they are optimized for cost, safety, and efficiency.
- Prepare and approve engineering documents, including installation procedures, load-out plans, transportation strategies, and offshore installation work packs.
- Ensure technical coordination between all engineering disciplines involved in subsea installation, including risers, pipelines, and subsea equipment.
- Perform or oversee detailed engineering analysis for subsea installation, including lift analysis, structural analysis, and subsea installation feasibility studies.
- Collaborate with the construction and offshore teams to ensure that installation is performed according to project requirements, specifications, and safety standards.
- Provide technical leadership in the execution of offshore installation campaigns, ensuring that safety, quality, and operational goals are met.
- Manage and mitigate risks associated with subsea installation, including logistical, technical, and environmental challenges.
- Interface with the project management team to report progress, address technical challenges, and ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
- Oversee subsea system integration with floating facilities, ensuring smooth interface and operation between installed systems and the FPSO, FPU, or other floating platforms.
- Support the project from FEED through to construction, pre-commissioning, and operational readiness.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in an engineering-related field (advanced degree preferred). Chartered Engineer status within a recognized engineering institution or registered professional engineer status is highly desirable.
- At least 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a minimum of 10 years in subsea installation engineering, specifically for SURF projects.
- Proven experience in managing or leading installation engineering teams for at least two large SURF projects at the FEED or detailed engineering phase of EPCI.
- Strong experience in offshore subsea installations, including risers, umbilicals, pipelines, and subsea equipment.
- Extensive experience with the interface between subsea systems and floating facilities, such as FPSO and FPU.
- Demonstrated expertise in pipeline design, subsea installation, and execution within high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) environments, as well as with high CO2 well streams.
- Experience in handling subsea installation challenges such as continental slope crossings, seismic zones, and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
- In-depth knowledge of offshore construction, installation procedures, and industry engineering codes and standards.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and risk management skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex offshore installation operations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and other engineering teams.
