Working in the World Check Risk Screening product, the Lead Research Analyst is required to maintain accurate information currency to support the growth of LSEG's Content business across the region. Join us today!

Role summary

As a Lead Research Analyst, you will conduct in-depth research on breaking news in South East Asia (SEA) region, mainly in Malaysia, regarding specific Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) related issues. We focus on maintaining an extensive list of Politically exposed persons (PEP), State owned & invested enterprises (SOE/SIE), Sanctions ownership information, etc.

Daily, you will research and extract data from extensive sources from public domain, ensure accuracy and quality of findings by aligning with policies and applicable laws.

What you'll be doing:

  1. Strong analyzing, capturing the right intelligent information and summarizing in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Strong adherence to research guidelines following strict requirements to ensure product content and quality.
  3. Provide content support to clients on a daily basis and work closely with team members, clients, and country researchers across offices to support related ad-hoc projects.
  4. Work independently in handling individual and team assignments and tasks.

Role requirements:
  1. Native or full professional language proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  2. Good English comprehension and writing skills.
  3. Preferably at least 2 years' related work experience in research and compliance.
  4. Strong analytical skills especially with excellent attention to detail and critical thinking to analyze and resolve research-related issues.
  5. Strong organization and interpersonal skills.
  6. Enjoy reading news, following current events as well as good knowledge of official and credible media sources.
  7. Good domain knowledge of Malaysia's naming conventions including characteristics of personal names, salutations, and titles.
  8. Passionate about research work and knowledge pertaining to SEA region, especially Malaysia, political structure and governance at all levels, sanctions, law enforcement and regulatory enforcement bodies and relevant national laws concerning the AML/CFT regime is an advantage.
  9. Good understanding of the prevalent financial crimes in SEA region, especially Malaysia, based on guidance and reports from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG), and other relevant sources.
  10. Exhibit excellent professionalism - self-motivated, can-do attitude, innovative thinking, strive for efficiency.
  11. Leading, managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and activities simultaneously in meeting tight deadlines and working effectively.

Education Qualification/Certifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in International Relations/Political Science, Finance/Accountancy/Banking, Business Studies, Commerce, Journalism, Linguistics/Languages, or equivalent.
  2. AML related certifications will be prioritized if equally qualified.
