This role will focus on delivering advanced power systems studies, supporting clients through compliance requirements, and enabling the integration of clean energy projects into the grid across Malaysia and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

As a Lead Power Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and grid integration of renewable energy projects, overseeing technical analyses, providing project leadership, and serving as a technical expert on power systems issues. You’ll work closely with clients and regulatory bodies, delivering insights to navigate grid connection challenges, optimize project designs, and support the transition to a cleaner energy future.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Lead Power Systems Engineer, you will:

  2. Deliver high-quality technical outputs within defined project scopes and timelines, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to industry standards.
  3. Serve as the primary technical expert on complex power system analysis, including load flow, fault level, stability studies, and other assessments critical to grid compliance.
  4. Collaborate with and guide project teams on technical deliverables, offering insights and support to junior engineers and coordinating project tasks.
  5. Engage with clients to understand project needs, provide expert guidance, and ensure effective technical communication.
  6. Liaise with regulatory authorities and grid operators in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region to facilitate project approvals and navigate grid requirements.
  7. Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies for technical and project challenges, especially those related to renewable energy grid integration.
  8. Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture.
  9. Assist in business development efforts, identifying potential new projects and providing technical input on proposals.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in the role of Lead Power Systems Engineer, we are looking for candidates with:

  1. A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in power systems engineering, particularly in grid connections, renewable energy integration, and power systems analysis.
  2. Proficiency in power systems software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, or similar, with hands-on experience in load flow, dynamic, and stability studies.
  3. A strong understanding of grid connection regulations and processes in Malaysia and/or the Asia-Pacific region.
  4. Demonstrable project leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead projects and manage technical deliverables.
  5. A solid background in power systems engineering, with an understanding of the challenges and strategies related to renewable energy grid integration.
  6. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  7. Experience working with regulatory bodies and grid operators in the Asia-Pacific region is an advantage.
  8. A strong commitment to team collaboration and knowledge-sharing, with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
